BBC World

BBC World's objective was to raise awareness and perception of the channel through delivering relevant programme information, and increase commercial opportunities through targeting information to different audience types.

Brief

Using our GMS email system as the base, GraphicoDMG tailored it to meet the specific needs of BBC World with a number of bespoke features including complex dynamic junction and scheduling functions.

Solution

Since the launch, we have continued to evolve the solution with a number of new features, one of which automatically translates the GMT programme schedule into the individual subscribers’ regional time zone, an essential requirement for a global broadcasting channel and an asset to their campaign.

Results

Within eight months the database of subscribers had grown by over 400% with an average 'open rate' of 42%. The e-newsletter was promoted on the channel, where visitors could register. By the 1st May 2004, BBC World had sent over 1.2 million emails across the globe and within this number there has been a remarkable, un-incentivised forwarding rate of 6.5%.

We are also working with BBC World to redevelop their website. It is the BBC’s shop window for its worldwide TV channel, promoting both the channel and its programming to viewers as well as commercial partners and advertisers
